Accomplish More on Proactive and Reactive Days

Sometimes your workday doesn’t go as planned. You set out with good intentions for the day: a solid process, a decent schedule, and time to get through it all. But then you get called into a meeting or find yourself dealing with a public relations issue, and suddenly your perfectly-planned day is no more.

The Arena App is as useful on these reactive days as it is on your proactive days. If you find yourself in an unexpected circumstance and can’t finish your projects for the day, simply move them to “Unscheduled” to be re-visited on a later day, when you have some time to work the projects back in.

You could also be having a day where you feel like you’re bouncing from one project to another, without actually completing anything. Take a minute to look at your day in Play mode, and ask yourself: How will I feel at the end of the day if this is what I accomplish? Can I get it done today? Do I need to communicate with anyone?

If the project is not a Must for that day, move it to Unscheduled until you can get a better handle on your day. On the tasks that cannot be moved, take a look and see if creating a checklist (and essentially breaking them down into smaller tasks) will help with your ability to complete them. If not, see if you can re-promise a deadline. If you still find yourself unable to focus on a project that cannot be rescheduled, re-promised, or redirected, try setting a timer for each project. Even if you can only manage 10 minutes at a time, you may surprise yourself with what you can accomplish in that time.

The Arena App: Daily Planner For Proactive and Reactive Days

Though most days will be proactive and therefore easily scheduled in Arena, there will also be days that are not as easy. Arena can help with those too, but you have to be willing to put in the work to help yourself succeed. With Arena, you can have a better day, everyday.
